Cookies Policy
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. They make sites work better — remembering your preferences, counting unique visitors, serving relevant ads. This policy explains the cookies Spingiro uses and how to control them.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small file stored by your browser on behalf of a website. Cookies can be "first-party" (set by the site you are visiting) or "third-party" (set by a service the site uses, like Google Analytics).
Cookies can also be "session" cookies (deleted when you close the tab) or "persistent" (kept until they expire or you delete them).
Cookie categories on Spingiro
Strictly necessary. These are required for the site to function and cannot be turned off. They include the theme preference (light/dark) and the wheel preferences (sounds, volume). They live in localStorage rather than cookies, but the principle is the same — they only exist on your device.
Analytics. Set by Google Analytics 4 to count unique visitors and measure how the site is used. You can opt out via the consent banner.
Advertising (when active). Set by Google AdSense to serve personalized ads. Opt out via the consent banner or via Google Ad Settings (g.co/adsettings).
Specific cookies
_ga (Google Analytics) — identifies unique visitors. Persistent (2 years).
_ga_<container-id> (Google Analytics) — session state for the GA4 property. Persistent (2 years).
__gads, __gpi, NID, IDE (Google advertising, when AdSense is active) — used to deliver ads, measure ad performance, and apply your ad-personalization settings. Persistent (varies, generally 13 months).
spingiro.prefs.v1 (localStorage, not a cookie strictly) — your wheel preferences. Persistent until you clear it.
spingiro.consent.v1 (localStorage) — records that you have seen the consent banner. Persistent.
Managing cookies in your browser
Most browsers let you view, delete, and block cookies in the site settings. Look for "Cookies and site permissions" (Chrome / Edge), "Privacy and Security" (Firefox), or "Privacy" (Safari).
Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies / localStorage will reset your theme and wheel preferences on every visit.
Opting out of advertising personalization
Google: visit adssettings.google.com to opt out of personalized ads while continuing to see non-personalized ones.
Industry-wide: visit aboutads.info (US / DAA) or youronlinechoices.eu (EU / EDAA) to manage advertising preferences across multiple providers.
Changes
We update this policy when cookies change. Material changes are reflected in the "Last updated" date.
