Random Country Generator — Spin the Country Wheel
A random country picker preloaded with 24 destinations across five continents. Edit the list, spin, and let the wheel pick your next obsession.
The Random Country Generator picks one nation from a balanced 24-country starting list — Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania all represented. Add or remove countries to match your geography unit, your bucket list, or the playlist you’re building. Each spin uses crypto-secure randomness, so each country has exactly the same probability of being picked.
How to use it
- Spin straight away, or edit the list to match your context.
- Use Cards mode to hide countries you have already visited.
- Switch to Elimination if you want to pick the order without repeats.
- Share the URL so others can spin the exact same wheel.
Use cases
- Geography class — pick a country, students research and present.
- Travel inspiration when you cannot decide where to go next.
- Themed dinner nights: country of the week sets the cuisine.
- Language exchange groups picking the focus country each session.
- Trivia warm-ups: the wheel chooses the country for the next round.
- YouTube or podcast episodes that need a different setting each week.
Frequently asked questions
How many countries are on the wheel by default?
24, picked to give balanced continent coverage (5 from Americas, 6 from Europe, 4 from Africa, 5 from Asia, 2 from Oceania, plus Iceland). You can add or remove any to suit your scenario.
Can I add every country in the world?
You can add up to 200 countries. Past ~30 the labels become hard to read on the wheel; if you really want all 195, switch to Cards mode to scroll through them and use Elimination mode to spin through them without repeats.
Are the flags real or just emojis?
They are emoji flags — same standard as iOS, Android, and most browsers. They render as a coloured flag on systems with full emoji support (Apple, Android, Linux) and as a letter pair on Windows by default.
Why a country wheel and not a list?
The spinning motion adds a moment of suspense and removes the human bias of “oh, that one looks more interesting.” It’s also more memorable for classroom and family use.
Can I bias the wheel toward specific countries?
Yes — switch to Weighted mode and increase the weight on the countries you want more often (e.g. weight 5 vs 1 makes a country five times more likely than the others).
